The Muzyka publishing house marked the 300th anniversary of J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos by issuing them in an arrangement for piano duet by American pianist and teacher Eleanor Bindman. The works are classic examples of the concerto grosso genre and today rate among the most popular orchestral works by the great composer. In Bindman’s own words, “Despite the popularity and beauty of the music, 4-hand performances of the Brandenburg Concertos are extremely rare due to the inadequacy of older existing arrangements. V. Sumarokov. Children’s Album for Piano

V. Sumarokov. Children’s Album for Piano

The P. Jurgenson publishing house has issued a Children’s Album by the contemporary Russian composer Victor Sumarokov. This collection of pieces continues the tradition of cycles created for young pianists by Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and other composers. The new work pays tribute to a genre devised by classic composers, yet at the same time fills it with modern rhythms and textural ingenuity. Young musicians will find the melodic vibrancy of these pieces from Sumarokov’s Children’s Album irresistible. The cycle has its own dramatic content, reminiscent of Tchaikovsky’s Children’s Album.
